Hodgepodge Smörgåsbord 3: King of the Mice

I was going to avoid religion this week, but as you can see, I didn’t.  What if next week I promise to complain about work again?

The Scratch Papers, Page 10: Super Jesse Returns

Behold, my original creation:  Super Jesse.   This is actually one of the oldest drawings I still have, created when I was 11.  The hero Super Jesse was a natural combination of my three biggest childhood interests:  superheroes, fantasy and myself (rampant narcissism and egomania is normal in children, right?).  Only later did I realize how blatantly I had ripped off Super Grover; their helmets are exactly the same!

“79 Percent Of Americans Missing The Point Entirely”

We provide arts and cultural programming for the community as well as…

Introducing The Scratch Papers

Welcome to the first installment of my new blog feature, The Scratch Papers, where I’ll be posting excerpts from my journals and sketchbooks. Like Hodgepodge Smörgåsbord, The Scratch Papers will appear on a weekly or semi-weekly basis and cover a variety of styles and subjects: doodles, unfinished concepts, rough drafts, studies, writings and more. I’ve always enjoyed artist’s sketchbooks, and while I didn’t think a sketchbook section would fit the more professional theme and unified front of hardpressedink.com, such material would be perfect for the transitory nature of blogs. Here today, gone tomorrow (unless you check the archives). Since most…
